Counterfeit Prayer

James 5:16 New King James Version

16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

Power In Prayer

There is power in prayer. Intercessory prayer has been on my mind this morning. Standing in the gap, praying for someone else and their situation that has nothing to do with you. Asking God to step in and move on their behalf. That is what intercessory prayer is. 

Intercessory Prayer

We may go through times in life when it feels like we can’t pray for ourselves, maybe because we feel we have hit a brick wall or because we don’t even know where to start. It’s in those times we would need someone to intercede for us and call our name out to the Father. 

There are other times when we, or someone else, may not even realize just how damaging what we are, or aren’t doing is. It could be that person doesn’t want to hear sound reason and is negatively affecting the lives of those around them. It’s our job as Christians to not talk about what’s going on but to take it to God in prayer and ask Him to do what only He can do for them. 

Counterfeit Prayer

They say the enemy has a counterfeit for everything God has and I believe in my heart that in this situation it’s prayer vs. gossip. If we were to do it God’s way we would take our thoughts, opinions, and concerns to God and lay that person before Him since He is the only one who can help them anyways. But the enemy’s counterfeit to prayer is gossip. We take our thoughts, opinions and concerns to other people and sometimes even pretend it’s a prayer request.

Let’s not give in to the devil’s fake prayer “gossip”and do what God has called us to do. Stand in the gap for those in need.

**Lord thank You for the gift of discernment and the Godly wisdom to use it properly. I ask for your convicting power to rest on me if I find myself using the enemy counterfeit to prayer, gossip, instead of doing what You have called me to do. In Jesus name I pray, Amen. **
