Have You Prayed?

 Have you prayed?

James 5:13-16 NKJV

13 Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms. 14 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. 16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avail much.

First Thing

Before I even opened my eyes this morning something was bothering me. In a matter of minutes, probably even seconds, I had begun to feel myself going down. Feeling sorry for myself and ready to spend the day pouting.

Have you ever been there? A situation that didn’t seem fair. Or maybe you felt overlooked or neglected in a particular relationship. Maybe you just wanted to be able to do something, and it didn’t quite work out. There can be a whole list of things that might make us feel that way.

What About Me?

Before I could dig in with that mindset the Lord asked me a simple question. “What about Me? Did you ask Me?”. No, actually I had not even consulted Him on this thing that randomly started to bother me. Immediately I was reminded that thinking about something was not going to change it and neither was pouting. Absolutely not!

I know from personal experience that if I seek God on this matter not only wil He show up and turn it around, but it will be done the right way. Sure, I could temporarily get what I was after by sulking and pouting. However, I would wind up right back in the same place I was in, and I would probably find myself quite angry.

What’s Bothering You?

I ask you today, what’s bothering you? Have you prayed about it as much as you’ve thought about it? Have you talked to God and asked Him to put His hand in it and/or change your perspective?  The truth is we may not always be right and might just have to change the way we are looking at something to realize it’s not what we thought it was.

1 Peter 5:7 NKJV

7 casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

**Lord, thank You for reminding me that I can come to You with anything. You care about everything I care about no matter how insignificant it may seem to others. Please help me to be more open minded to the fact that I may just need to shift my perspective on some things. In Jesus name I pray, Amen. **
