Why Do You Read?

Why do you read the Bible? 

1 John 2:3 New King James Version

3 Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments.

Why?

I had that thought this morning as I was thinking about this week’s Sunday school lesson. The chapter we are talking about is one of my favorites and the question “why?” came to my mind. Why do I love that chapter? As I started to think about why I loved it so much I realized that was why I loved reading the Bible period. 

There is so much packed into those pages that I truly don’t believe we will ever be able to take it all in. We do have the rest of this life to try though. 

Ask Yourself

Ask yourself why you read God’s word. Do you do it because you know you need it each day? That’s not a bad reason. Do you do it because you need to check it off your daily list that you have given yourself? I do believe it’s important to ask ourselves why we do what we do with anything to make sure our hearts are in the right place.    

I Want to Know More

I am reminded about a song we sing in church. It says; 

I want to know more….. about my Jesus…..

I want to know more….. about my Lord…..

I want to know more…… about that mansion…...

I’m gonna receive….. as my reward…..

I want to know more….. about that homeland…..

I mean to go there….. some day, somehow…..

And after i reach….. that heavenly city…..

I mean to know more….. than i know now…..

I want to know more. Do you?

Read 1 John 2

**Lord thank You for Your word that is living and shows me something new each day! I want to know more about You and Your ways!  I want to know more about everything to do with You. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.**
