Ask & Receive?

John 16:24

24 Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.

Ask & Receive?

As I read that scripture this morning it made me think of other scriptures like it I’ve heard. I know we don’t always get what we pray for so why does the Bible say this over and over? So, I began looking up scriptures that say the same thing , but the Lord reminded me it’s not just in that one scripture.  What I was looking for was in the surrounding scriptures.  That is where the lesson was.

One scripture alone can be taken out of context, and I think we do that a lot.  We read those one or two lines ,and then get mad when things don’t turn out like we thought it said.  If there is one thing I have learned thus far in my walk with God and studying, it’s that you have to look at all the details. Those are the ingredients for the best cake.  You can try to do it without reading all the directions but it won’t yield the results you are looking for.

The Secret Place

There have been a few sermons recently at church about “The Secret Place” talked about in Psalm 91. Last night it was looked at in a different way. Long story short, in order to be in the secret place you have to be bearing good fruit, as in the Fruit of the Spirit. That really caught my attention. Of course! It made perfect sense when she began to touch on all of that.

Godly Desires

As I read this morning it was like God wrapped it all up and up, and put a bow on it for me.  In order for you to receive what you ask for in prayer, you need to be in the secret place. A personal, quiet, and reflective place with God.  To get to that secret place you need to be exercising the fruit of the spirit, which you have already been given you just have to use. His word tells you exactly how to do that. It’s not easy but with Him it is possible.

Once you are bearing that fruit, and have come into that secret place He will then give you Godly desires. That is what your prayers will be full of. Which is why you will be given what you ask for, because what you ask for will be placed in you by Him, and following His will.

This may seem like a lot to follow along with. I pray that you read the scripture provided, and dig even deeper to soak in the wisdom that He has waiting for you.

James 4:3, Matthew 6:5-15, Matthew 7:7-11, Matthew 21:21-22, Psalm 91, Galatians 5:22-23

***God I thank you for Your Word .Your wisdom that opens my eyes and allows me to deepen my relationship with you. Lord use me. Work on me and help me to show others your goodness through my actions. In Jesus name I pray, Amen. ***
