Job 3:25
25 For the thing I greatly feared has come upon me, And what I dreaded has happened to me.
What are you afraid of?
I came across this scripture while studying this morning and I could not let go of it. We have recently been doing a Bible study in church about strong holds of the enemy. One of the things that seems to come up quite a bit is fear.
Don’t Fuel the Enemy
If you continue to fear something it will eventually happen. Being vocal about that fear gives the enemy fuel. Once he knows where you are weak he can start with the nagging thoughts. When you have the nagging thoughts you can cue the anxiety and with anxiety comes all the physical sickness that goes along with it.
Your Choice
God has not given us the spirit of fear. Plain and simple. If you are having fearful thoughts, even if they haven’t gotten wildly out of hand yet, they are all a trick, a lie from the devil. You have to make a choice. Are you going to continue on with these thoughts or are you going to call the devil out for being the liar that he is and speak life, speak good things over whatever situation the enemy is trying to keep you bound in?
What Happened to Me
For many years I had decided that I never wanted to get married. Why? Because I had a gut wrenching feeling that whoever I did marry would wind up a drug addict and it would be a nightmare. I realize that is an odd fear to have but my view of the world was quite different from most peoples.
I met a wonderful man, we married and several years in guess what happened? The thing I feared the most. Was it hard? Yes! Was it heart breaking? Absolutely! But you know what else happened ?
God Is So Good!
I learned to trust God in ways I never dreamed. I learned who God was and how much He loved me. Because of that trial myself and both of my children were saved, my dad gave his heart to the Lord and the husband I mentioned… He is sober, saved, living for God and our marriage, our family is something that I only dreamed of as a little girl.
Maybe that thing you are so afraid of happening is the thing that is going to open the door to everything you ever dreamed of. Maybe God is trying to show you who He is. I don’t know His plan for you but I do know that if He took what I feared and turned it into something beautiful, something I only ever dreamed of, He will do the exact same thing for you.
2 Timothy 1:7, Romans 8:28, 2 Corinthians 10:4-5
**Lord, thank You. words could never express my gratitude for what You have done in my life. I love You Lord and I want to worship You with my life. Help me to remember that I do not have to hold on to fearful thoughts that come into my mind. Remind me when the time comes that You Lord, have given me power and authority over the enemy and I can choose to think on good things. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.**
