Do you love Him?

John 14:15

15 “If you love Me, keep My commandments.

Such a simple but powerful statement. If we truly love God, we will do what His word says plain and simple. 

But..

A lot of times we look at our circumstances, our feelings, our wants, our flesh and start to use the word “but”. I love God, “but” …and then we lay out an excuse as to why we don’t have to follow what His word says. 

Not Exempt

I believe it says in His word 6 different times where God does not show favoritism. Meaning it doesn’t matter who you are, what you or anyone else has done or what we think about it, God’s word is very clear on what His commandments are. 

Do You Love Him?

So, I guess the question is, do we truly love God? It goes without saying that no one is perfect. We are thrown into fiery trials that the Lord wants to work out for our good, but are we allowing Him to use those trials for our good? Are we reading and following His word to the best of our abilities and asking Him to help us with the rest? Or are we making excuses to justify acting off of our feelings instead?

There are many who say they love the Lord, but you will know a tree by the fruit it bears. What is hanging from your tree? Kindness? Love? Forgiveness? Long suffering? Hate? Unforgiveness? Pride? Haughtiness? 

Galatians 5:19-21, Galatians 5:22-23, Matthew 6:33

**Lord thank You for not leaving when I need You the most. God, I pray and ask that You open my eyes to anything I am doing that is not pleasing to You. Bring Your words back to my mind right when I need them. In Jesus name I pray, Amen. **
