Let God Use You
John 13:34
34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.
I read something the other day that stuck with me. It said something along the lines of we should not shy away from reaching out to those who seem too far gone. Immediately my mind went to this man who attends our church sometimes.
Every time he comes he puts on a big show as he makes his way to the altar. Lifting his hands, crying followed by dropping to his knees. All the while knowing he will leave the service and go right back into the same lifestyle that he was more than likely under the influence of when he put on the show.
I will be honest there are times it makes me angry because he makes it very obvious it’s nothing more than a show. How can I tell? My husband was that man at one time. He didn’t make quite the same spectacle, but more or less the same thing.
Be Honest
If we are truly honest, we too have looked at someone in the same way I looked at that man. But the truth is even if it was all for show, as Christians, we have a responsibility to pray for that man every time he makes his way up there.
In all honesty it probably wouldn’t hurt to pray for him at home either.
Power In Prayer
We live in a lost and dying world. Sure, a lot of people are exactly where they are because they have made poor life choices, but if we were to look back on our own lives there was probably a time when we made some pretty poor choices ourselves and someone reached out a hand to us or called out our name in a prayer closet.
Let God Use You
We cannot claim to love God if we do not push aside our feelings and what we physically see and go deeper to knowing there is a person’s soul hanging in the balance.
If you know someone like the man I described, pray for his or her soul. Ask God what He would have you say or do. Maybe all the Lord would have you do is pray for that person and their family, but maybe, just maybe He will use you to help in bringing that person back into right relationship with God.
Ephesians 4:32, Galatians 6:2, Philippians 2:4
**Lord please forgive me for the times I have looked down on people. I know that I am no better because we were all lost at one time and without You Lord, I would still be that lost person. Show me what I can do to help others. In Jesus name I pray, Amen. **
