Jeremiah 29:11

11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

Teenagers

Recently we have had a little upset in our home. My teenage son broke his foot while playing sports. It’s quite devastating for him because he’s very active. He was given a boot and crutches and told to stay off of it as much as possible.

As you can imagine he does not want to comply with those wise instructions. Which frustrates me… A lot!! I told him that if he does not do what is necessary for his healing I will be forced to have the doctor put him in an actual cast, which will make life much more difficult than if he would just follow the current instructions given but would keep him from surgery or worse permanent damage.

After I dropped him off at school I was thinking about the whole situation and all of a sudden had the thought “ This is what we are like with God”. How true that is.

Tools

How many times have we gotten ourselves into unintentional messes and the Lord shows us the way out and gives us all the tools we need to get there, but instead of using both crutches we only use one. Instead of wearing the boot all of the time we only want to wear it at home but not in public for everyone to see.

Are you picking this up yet?

We want to heal quietly where we don’t have to show everyone what we’ve been through when the truth is they need to see  that God will provide all we need to get through the situation, whatever it may be. We can not only use the tools He gives us in secret. His word says if you are ashamed of Him and His ways He will be ashamed of you.

That may seem harsh but when you look at it from a parent’s perspective it really isn’t.

Help Me Lord

The truth is we are prideful and selfish a lot of times and believe that we will be fine if we only do part of what God says and do it our way the rest of the time. It won’t work. We could wind up finding ourselves in a more serious situation or worse with permanent damage.

Listen to the Lord, follow His leading. He only wants what’s best for you.

Luke 9:26, Romans 8:28, 1 Peter 5:8-10

**Lord thank You for always providing me with everything I need to get through any situation I am faced with. I ask that You give me the wisdom I need in my decision making so I will make the right choices and not be driven by my own selfish wants. In Jesus name I pray, Amen. **
