A Great Day
Joshua 24:15
15 And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the river, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
This morning, I woke up feeling heavy. Last week was a lot for me. I started doing a few new “Kingdom things” and we know how much the devil likes that. I knew it was coming from the moment I started but it’s still quite difficult to fight through.
This valentine’s day will mark three years since my daddy passed away. Mixing that with the enemy already fighting doesn’t feel amazing. Before even getting out of bed, I began to pray for God to just help me get through. Help me to get up and out of bed to be ok and for my kids and family to be ok.
Time With God
Each morning, I do a little devotional time to get things started right before our house comes alive. To be honest none of it really spoke to me, until I read something that was preached on at church last night. Something I read and write about quite a bit. The power of the tongue. The preacher said her daddy would get up every day and say, “God’s going to bless me today”.
It’s My Choice!
That’s when it hit me. It’s my choice! I get to choose how I handle the attack from the enemy. I get to choose how I deal with my grief. It’s all my choice. I said out loud “God’s going to bless me today”, but that wasn’t good enough for me. God blesses me every moment of every single day. Him blessing me is a given so I need to thank Him and proclaim that today is going to be a great day. Good things will happen today to me and my family. Not only is this going to be a great day but a great week because I choose for it to be.
Train Up a Child
Do you want to know the best part in all of this? When I woke my daughter (who is definitely not a morning person) I said, “today is going to be a great day and something great is going to happen”. She grunted at the time, but on the way to school she said, “you know what mama, you are right, today IS going to be a great day”.
Proverbs 18:21, Philippians 2:5, Proverbs 17:22
**“Lord, thank you for reminding me that You have given me the power to choose how I handle every situation in my life. For giving me hope through You that everything can be good if I choose for it to be. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.” **
