Are You Ready?
Ephesians 6:10-18 New King James Version
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—
Stay Ready
Most of us like to be prepared for things. We like to have everything packed when we are going on a trip and try not to forget anything. When we are making dinner, we prepare by getting all of the ingredients and doing all of the cutting and mixing necessary. We even prepare our children for school by buying all the necessary things, waking them up on time and getting them where we need to be. There are many other things in this life that we spend time preparing for. Somehow, I think we forget to prepare for two very important things. Spiritual battle and eternity.
I believe how we prepare for those things is quite similar. Mostly because if we are going to spend eternity in Heaven with our Lord and Savior then we are going to have to push through many spiritual battles.
How can you prepare
The very first thing that has to happen is your full and complete surrender to God. Until you have given your life to Him and chosen to walk in His ways you are not on track for Heaven. There is no halfway where this is concerned. If you have not surrendered your life to God, then you do not have the strength nor the wisdom needed to walk through some of the toughest times you will face in your life.
Prayer
Your prayer life, which is your communication with God, is vital to both of these things. You can’t go to someone’s house to stay without communicating with them first can you? Not usually. You also can’t fight a war without talking to the one who knows exactly what to do and what is coming.
Read
While prayer is our communication with God, His word is how He communicates with us! You have to spend time in His word to receive the instructions needed. How He expects us to live our lives is outlined in the Bible. If we don’t read what He says we won’t know what to do. We can’t live a life that is on the path to Heaven if we don’t know where that path is. Spiritual Battle is the same. We can not expect to win the fight if we have not taken the time to learn how. God’s word tells us everything we need to know about anything. Are you willing to take the time to read it and receive what He is saying?
James 4:7-8, Proverbs 9:10, 2 Timothy 2:15
**Lord thank You for preparing me for the things that will come my way. Let me never forget how important prayer and Bible study is to my relationship with You. Lord, help me to remember the things I learn so I can use them at the right time. In Jesus name I pray, Amen. **
