Choose For Yourself

Choose for yourself

Joshua 24:14

14 “Now therefore, fear the Lord, serve Him in sincerity and in truth, and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the River and in Egypt. Serve the Lord!

What Is A god?

Did you know that a “god” to you is really anything that you put before God. It could be a job, a hobby, or even just a particular lifestyle. Whatever you spend most of your time on, or whatever and whoever has most of your thoughts, is your god.

Our Parents weren’t perfect

The older most of us get, the more we see that our parents weren’t always right, and they didn’t have it all figured out. We know that because we ourselves don’t have much figured out either and are kind of learning as we go. Now that I am older and a little more wise I don’t agree with a lot of ways my parents had. I don’t hold anything against them for their choices because they were learning, just as I am now.

Train Up A Child

It doesn’t matter if our parents were wild hellions, or wonderful pastors who followed God’s word, We have to make a choice. We need to seek a close personal relationship with God for ourselves. Sure we may still view some things the same way our parents did, but we have to know the truth for ourselves.  I want my children to believe in God because they know Him personally, because they have seen the things He has done for themselves. Not because I told them they have to.

My House

Now just as the scripture says “as for me and my house we will serve the Lord” that is absolutely true.  We go to church in my home. We pray, and do Bible study. God gets the glory in our house. If I teach my children now what it takes to have a close personal relationship with God they will have a good starting point to find their way with Him.

Joshua 24:15, Proverbs 22:6, Exodus 20:3

***Lord, thank you for allowing me to make my own choices. For leading me with Your Holy Spirit when I need Your help.  God, I ask for Wisdom and discernment for every choice I have to make. I pray for my children to follow You and Your ways in their own lives. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.***
