Does It Even Matter?

Does It Even Matter?

Proverbs 18:21 New King James Version

21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.

Words Have Power

The words we speak have power. Oftentimes when we think about that scripture, we relate it to our own personal situation, or we even give advice to others. We tell them not to talk negatively about their circumstances or someone they love because we believe anything is possible and prayer changes things.

Do we take that same advice when we are talking about others? Let’s face it we talk about what other people have going on. We may not have ill intentions when doing so but we still do it. They may be close to us or their choices may affect parts of our lives and truthfully, we could find ourselves quite astonished with their circumstances and discuss it with our spouses or others who feel the same way.

Don’t Gossip!

We should not gossip about the thing’s others are going through. We should be quiet and mind our own business, but if we were truthful more often than not, we would discuss the circumstances of others. It’s what we say that makes the difference.

Are we speaking positive, hopeful things about the situation or are we sharing information?  Are we telling all of the negative things someone has done or are we asking God to steer them in the right direction?

Where’s Your Focus?

If you focus on every negative part of something you are doing nothing more than giving the devil glory for doing what he does best. But, if you focus on the positive, hopeful and uplifting aspect of it, and there is one in every situation, who knows that might just rub off on others and turn all that talk into prayer to The One who can change it all for the better.

An Account Before God

One day we will have to stand before God and give an account of every idle word that we have spoken. Every word that bears no fruit whatsoever we will have to give account to God for. Speaking life into someone and their situation helps, sharing information and opinions, however, does not.

Matthew 12:36-37, James 3:5-6, Ephesians 4:29, Psalm 141:3

**Lord thank You for giving me Your word that teaches me what to do in every circumstance. Help me to remember how powerful my words are and that I can both help and hurt with each one I choose. In Jesus name I pray, Amen. **
