Don’t Forget
Deuteronomy 8:11-20 New King James Version
11 “Beware that you do not forget the Lord your God by not keeping His commandments, His judgments, and His statutes which I command you today, 12 lest—when you have eaten and are full, and have built beautiful houses and dwell in them; 13 and when your herds and your flocks multiply, and your silver and your gold are multiplied, and all that you have is multiplied; 14 when your heart is lifted up, and you forget the Lord your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage; 15 who led you through that great and terrible wilderness, in which were fiery serpents and scorpions and thirsty land where there was no water; who brought water for you out of the flinty rock; 16 who fed you in the wilderness with manna, which your fathers did not know, that He might humble you and that He might test you, to do you good in the end— 17 then you say in your heart, ‘My power and the might of my hand have gained me this wealth.’
18 “And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day. 19 Then it shall be, if you by any means forget the Lord your God, and follow other gods, and serve them and worship them, I testify against you this day that you shall surely perish. 20 As the nations which the Lord destroys before you, so you shall perish, because you would not be obedient to the voice of the Lord your God.
Waiting Years
How powerful this passage is. Some of us spend years praying for God to do something. We might spend years waiting for that loved one to be saved and delivered. Years waiting to conceive a child, or even years fighting the enemy to break free of the generational curses that seem too much. We spend years in our Egypt.
Time For Breakthrough
Then finally God makes a way. Your breakthrough comes. It’s finally morning time and there is joy again. Sadly, there are many who seek God when their lives are in shambles. They come to Him and beg when their marriage is falling apart or when their child is out in the world deep in addiction. We come to Him and lay on the altar when the doctor gives us bad news, but then He shows up and shows out, and the same people are nowhere to be found. They leave His house and forget His ways just as quickly as they ran to Him to fix their grief.
Don’t Forget
God will always want you to come to Him with everything. He loves you and stands ready and willing to help you at all times. However, like these scriptures say when He does come through for you, and He will, don’t forget Him by not keeping His commandments. Don’t forget to give Him public praise with your lifestyle when He restores your marriage and makes it better than before. Don’t forget to testify of His healing and delivering power when He pulls you out of the darkness of depression and addiction. How we choose to live our lives is a testimony to the things God has done for us and will speak louder than any words we could ever say.
Don’t forget God when He does exactly what you begged Him to.
**Lord thank You for always answering my prayers in the way You know will be best for me. Thank You for never leaving or forsaking me no matter how many times I may have let You down with my own actions. I love You Lord! Thank You for all You have done for me. Help me to live my life as a living testimony of Your mercy and goodness. In Jesus name I pray, Amen. **
