Is It Love?

Is it love?

1 Corinthians 13:4-7

4 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; 5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; 6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Called To Love

Scrolling through Facebook yesterday I found myself a little upset. There were people I know making fun of someone for their stance on praise and worship music. It really bothered me and got me thinking.

We are called to love one another. That means there has to be a certain amount of understanding. The Bible tells us that love is patient, love is kind. It’s not rude, not self-seeking, not boastful and there’s a whole list above of all the things. We like that scripture we put it on the wall at the house, and we quote bits and pieces of it here and there, but are we acting like we actually love one another when we’re out there in the world? That’s the real question.

Stop Finger pointing!!

I have seen more nitpicking and finger pointing by Christians lately than I have anywhere else and it really bothers me. I try hard not to do it. There are times I catch myself and I have to ask the Lord to forgive me because that’s not who I want to be. I know what that feels like to be on the other end.

Maybe someone’s not worshiping the way you’re worshiping because they don’t think they’re worthy to worship God. They don’t understand the depth of what Jesus dying on the cross means and they don’t understand that he created them with a purpose. They don’t understand that they are fearfully and wonderfully made, and it’s our job to show them in the word where it is.

We can’t do everything for others, I get that, but we don’t have to drag them down for their stance on things. It’s love and the convicting power of His Holy Spirit that brings someone into the right relationship with God. Not finger pointing and condemnation.

Loving Correction

Yes, the word says we are to let someone know when what they are saying or doing doesn’t line up with God’s word. But we are supposed to do that from a place of love. Because we want their soul saved, because we want them to walk in the fullness of God and be in a place to be used by Him. The enemy has done a fine job of manipulating Christians into thinking they are the Jesus police and into thinking God needs them to stick up for Him.

Every once and a while,  it does all of us some good to get in a prayer closet and ask the Lord if there is anything we could be doing differently. I guarantee if you ask , He will most definitely answer. Try it.

John 13:34-35, Ephesians 4:32, 2 Timothy 2:23

**Lord, I thank You for Your guidance. Please show me anything I am doing that needs changing. God, I want to bring people closer to you with every word I speak or write. Use me to help others. In Jesus name I pray, Amen. **
