Is It True?
2 Timothy 2:15
15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
What Does That Mean?
I always wonder when reading certain scriptures “What does that mean?”. We can hear lots of opinions about different parts of the Bible. Preachers and teachers can all give lessons and sermons on their interpretation, but I like what this scripture says. “Study to shew theyself approved unto God”
When we read and study His word for ourselves it gives the opportunity to hear what He is speaking to us. If we allow that to happen then we can find the true meaning of what the scripture is saying and live and teach accordingly.
Be Careful
Don’t get me wrong we need to listen to teaching and preaching, but we must be very careful and never take it without reading and studying ourselves. Sadly, there are people out there who will take bits and pieces of God’s word and bend it to their own opinions and spread it around for everyone to hear. Those who have not read and studied for themselves will be fooled and follow whatever is being said just because it sounds good.
God’s word says that in the last days people will have itching ears, meaning they will follow teachers and preachers who say things they want to hear, things that make them feel good whether it’s true or not. Don’t let that be you! Your soul and those of your family are far too important to be led astray by false teachings.
How Do You Need It?
God has made His word readily available to us in many different ways. We can read it, listen to it and even watch someone read it to us while reading along in our own. There is a way for everyone no matter what language you speak or how you are able to take it in, to get a hold of God’s word.
2 Timothy 4:3, Psalm 119:130, 2 Timothy 3:16-17
**Lord thank You for giving me many ways to ingest and study Your Word! I ask that You give me the time and the determination to dig deep into Your word so that I can know the truth, not be fooled and also teach the truth to others so they can know too! In Jesus name I pray Amen. **
