Postponed Obedience
1 Samuel 15:23 New King James Version
23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, And stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry.
Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, He also has rejected you from being king.”
Postponed Obedience
While reading this morning I saw a note in my study bible that said, “Postponed obedience is still disobedience”. That hit me like a ton of bricks and caused me to repent in prayer.
How often does God either ask us to do something or ask us to stop doing something and instead of instant obedience we weigh it out and see how it feels for us.
In my experience if we don’t do what God says immediately we will talk ourselves out of whatever it is. But to know that not promptly obeying is considered disobedience puts things into a different perspective.
Grace & Anointing
If God has called us to do something or to stop doing something that means at that particular moment, He has given you the grace and the anointing needed at that very time to do exactly what He has asked. His timing is not ours and He knows every single detail of every second of our lives.
I wonder how often we make things harder on ourselves just because we let the moment pass by. Sure we can still do it but it won’t be as easy as it would have been at that moment. As a matter of fact it will probably be harder.
Let these thoughts sink in today and let it make you determined to promptly obey God when He speaks to you.
Romans 11:29, Esther 4:14, Isaiah 55:8-9
**Lord thank You for bringing this subject to light for me. Please forgive me for the times I have not been promptly obedient to what You have asked of me. Help me Lord to be bold and brave enough to stand up and go the moment You call. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.**
