Powerful Words

James 3:5

5 Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things. See how great a forest a little fire kindles!

Powerful Words

Powerful words. Our words have power. They have the power to uplift, and the power to tear down.  Even the smallest comments can change someone’s life.

Tithe in Words?

According to google the average person speaks around 16,000 words a day. I wrote in a book of mine that if we are to give 10% of our income in tithes to the Lord ,then wouldn’t it stand to reason that 10% of our time should go to Him also? Now thinking about that, if we average that many words in one day shouldn’t 10% of those glorify the Lord in some way? Shouldn’t at least that small percentage of what we say be uplifting? It’s something to think about at least.

Life & Death

Proverbs say that the power of life and death are in the tongue. When we meditate on that scripture a little while we might find that it doesn’t just refer to our own personal situations, but to how we speak to and about others.

We can’t pray for someone to change, and then tell others how “people don’t change”. We can’t tell someone we believe God will turn their situation around, and then talk behind their back about how horrible it is and what we would or wouldn’t do if we were them.

How To Save A Life

We can save a life or take one with every word we speak. We have been given a great power, a great responsibility, to be able to speak. Let us use Godly wisdom when we do.

Proverbs 18:21, James ch.3, Proverbs 10:19

** Lord thank you for the ability to speak. Thank you for your wisdom that allows me to help others in their time of need. I ask that you keep a watchman over my mouth that I might not sin against you with the words I say. God let every word out of my mouth glorify You, and help uplift others. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.**
