Roots
Isaiah 61:7
7 Instead of your shame you shall have double honor, And instead of confusion they shall rejoice in their portion. Therefore, in their land they shall possess double; Everlasting joy shall be theirs.
Deep Roots
I’ve never really thought about what shame meant. I had an idea but lately the Lord has been working some deep-rooted things out of me. Things that have held tight since my childhood that I didn’t even know what it was.
What Is Shame?
Shame is a feeling of being inadequate or flawed, and it can be caused by a variety of things.
-Childhood trauma or neglect
-Bullying
-Not meeting expectations
-Rejection
-Comparing yourself to others
-Feeling scrutinized
-Having low self-esteem
Just to name a few of them. I also believe that having low self-esteem or being insecure is the result of shame. Shame makes you feel unlovable, and unworthy.
You Have an Advantage
I know there are many of us that deal with this and never actually realized what it was. But, knowing what something is gives you an advantage. You can see where it causes other issues and begin working on it.
That was my problem. I was having all these other things going on. A warring within myself you could say. Sincerely praying I asked God to help me, and this is what He revealed to me.
Break The Chains
God’s Word and the Holy Ghost are what breaks the bondage of shame, and any other problem you may have. If you realize you may have shame and were unaware that it was a root problem for you, I’ve added a few scriptures below to get you started but dig deeper.
You Are Not Alone
Pray and ask God to guide you, to help you. He shows us these things to help us be who He made us to be. Don’t give up. You are not alone in dealing with any of this.
Romans 8:1, Isaiah 54:4, Zephaniah 3:19
**Lord, I thank You for never leaving me. Thank You for seeing my heart, my past and knowing who I can be. God, I ask that you show me the root causes of any bad thoughts and behaviors I have and help me to work through them. In Jesus name I pray, Amen. **
