Colossians 4:2
2 Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;
Thankful for who?
Thanksgiving?
I know, I said Thanksgiving. Gasp! I really wasn’t thinking about the holiday when I opened my Bible this morning. I was actually looking for the book of James to continue my reading, but came across a devotion about being thankful.
I Like Stuff
Usually when we think about being thankful we think of our homes, and our health. We think of jobs, and cars. I won’t pretend to be super holy, and act like material things don’t matter, because I like them, but that doesn’t mean they are a necessity. Just the same, we should be thankful for them. This morning, however, the Lord brought something a little different to my attention.
Thankful For People
We should be thankful for people. I know we all probably say a little prayer that we are thankful for our friends, family and Pastor, but do you think about that deeply? Do you think about each individual thing that they bring to your life and your family that is special and unique?
He Knows
I don’t have a big family. My mom and step dad live very far away. My grandparents are gone and so is my dad. This morning I though about how God has filled all those voids for, not just me, but my children, with the people around us. They have aunts, uncles, grandparents, and cousins that aren’t even related to them by blood. People that show up for them and remember their birthday and pray for them regularly. For that I am beyond thankful because I know it’s God!
What Would You Have?
Today, think about all the people in your life that God has sent you, even the gas station attendant that you speak to every morning, and thank God for them! What if all you had tomorrow was what and WHO you thanked Him for today.
1Chronicles 16:34, 1 Thessalonians 5:18, Colossians 3:17
***God thank you for blessing me with a family handpicked by you! I wish I could describe in words how grateful I am. Lord you know what we need even when we don’t. Thank you for everything and everyone in my life. I love you Lord! In Jesus name I pray, Amen. ***
