The Good Part
Luke 10:40-42
40 But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me.”
41 And Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. 42 But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.”
Worry
Several days ago, I was in my prayer closet asking God what I needed to do. I’ve had a burning desire to spread His word, to teach His word and it felt like I was not doing what I was supposed to. Knowing that disobedience is just as the sin of witchcraft I did not want to fail to do something I should be.
I knelt down and started my anxiety ridden prayer only to be stopped by a strong, still small voice that said, “you are worried about many things”.
He was right. I was worried about many things. My family, the bills, church, ministry, being obedient, trying to keep up with all the things. The same things we are all worried about really.
While thinking this He said it again “you are worried about many things,” but this time it was followed by, “seek Me, focus on Me and everything will fall into place.”
Peace
Wow! If I could open myself up and show you the moment of complete peace I had, I would do it.
He has that same peace available to you today also. Are you worried about many things this morning? Do you need to take time to sit at the feet of Jesus and just listen to Him?
The Good Part
There is nothing wrong with serving. We should absolutely be serving wherever He leads us to and give it our best, but let us not get so wrapped up in serving we forget “the good part”.
Don’t allow serving to become a distraction from what is most important, time with The Father.
1 Samuel 15:22, Philippians 4:6-7, Psalm 91:1, Matthew 6:33
**Lord, thank You for always knowing what I need exactly when I need it. Help me to be more mindful of my time for You and to spend it wisely. I never want to be too distracted to spend time at Your feet. In Jesus name I pray, Amen. **
