Use What You Have

Use What You Have

John 10:27

27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.

This morning while getting ready my daughter came in and asked me if I saw what she did with her hairbrush while we were blow drying her hair the night before. I asked of a few places I thought it could be, and then I asked her if she turned her actual room light on, or just her vanity lights.

She became frustrated and said, “my vanity lights are bright” and walked away. I shook my head and told my husband she never wants all of my help. We both realized, she does want all of my help, every bit of it. She just doesn’t want to do her part.

How Does God Feel?

With that thought, I said out loud I bet that’s how God feels about all of us. How many times have we prayed and asked God to do things for us only to sit there and do nothing ourselves. Whether it’s because we are lazy, or just scared to do the wrong thing, not doing what God has given us to do is disobedience.

Unanswered Prayers?

We can’t be mad at God for, what seems like, unanswered prayers if we aren’t willing to get up and do what He impresses upon us to do. You can set a box of cake mix with all the tools and ingredients on top of the oven, but if you don’t get up and use what you have, the thing you are wanting will never be created.

He Doesn’t Need Our Help

God doesn’t need our help to do anything. He can split a sea, heal diseases, and bring the dead back to life in every sense. There’s an old saying that goes “if you give a man a fish he will eat for a day. If you teach a man to fish, he will eat for the rest of his life.”. If we learn to hear God’s voice, and respond to His instruction, we will have that knowledge for the rest of our lives. When we are putting in work, doing what He has told us to, we appreciate whatever it is so much more than if it were just handed to us with no effort on our part.

2 Timothy 1:7, Matthew 6:33, 1 Samuel 15:23

**Lord please forgive me for the times I have been lazy or even too afraid to do what You have given me to do. Help me to know Your voice Lord and give me the boldness and confidence to do what I need to do. In Jesus name I pray, Amen. **
