What Does It Mean?

1 Timothy 5:22

22 Do not lay hands on anyone hastily, nor share in other people’s sins; keep yourself pure.

What Does It Mean?

I came across this scripture while reading this morning. I’ve heard it many times over the years. But the context I’ve heard it in didn’t quite fit in what I was reading. I wanted to know for myself exactly what it meant.

What I came to was that it meant to be slow to ordain someone into ministry. We never know what people are doing in secret and time will tell their sin. What is done in the dark will eventually come to the light. 

My point in all of this is not exactly about the scripture I shared, although I did want to share its proper meaning. 

Read, Study & Pray Yourself

Read God’s word for yourself. Study it, meditate on it so you can know for yourself the truth of His word. 

I know others might mean well when they tell you things about God’s word, but if you don’t know what it says, and means, for yourself you can be led astray by anything that sounds good. 

There are things I’ve been told my whole life and truly believed they were things from the Bible. Only to  find out later in life that they were in fact not in God’s word at all.

Don’t allow yourself to be fooled. Know His word for yourself.

Joshua 1:8

8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

Hebrews 4:12, Matthew 4:4, 2 Timothy 3:16-17

** Lord, thank You for opening my eyes to things I have been seeing wrong. Thank You for giving me a daily opportunity to read Your Word and listen to You speak to me through it. I ask that you give me a desire and determination to know You and Your word more. In Jesus name I pray, Amen. **
