What Other gods?
Exodus 20:3
3 “You shall have no other gods before Me.
In Exodus 20 the very first commandment listed is you shall have no other gods before Me. I think the fact that it is at the very top of the list signifies its importance. But what are “other gods”?
Other Gods?
We tend to think of things like Buddha, maybe even the Greek gods we learned about in school, but anything that you put before God you have made god of your life. What does that look like? It can look like lots of things. It can look like hobbies such as hunting, fishing or shopping. It can look like your children’s ball games or other activities. It can look like work. It can even look like “me time” or even disguise itself as “Family time”.
Anything we put in place of time spent with the Father is considered our god. I had a friend that used to say, “we don’t come to Sunday evening service because that is our family time”. While your family should come before many things, most things really. God is the only thing they should not come before.
Priorities
What do your priorities look like today? What are you putting before prayer or Bible study time? What are you putting before going to church? Going to God’s house is one of the main ways we spend time with Him. Are you finding reasons not to?

**Lord thank you for reminding me to keep You first on my list of priorities. Help me to not forget that everything I have right down to the very breath in my lungs is because of You and for that I should put nothing before You. In Jesus name I pray, Amen. **
