Who Do You Favor?
Romans 2:11-13
11 For there is no partiality with God.
12 For as many as have sinned without law will also perish without law, and as many as have sinned in the law will be judged by the law 13 (for not the hearers of the law are just in the sight of God, but the doers of the law will be justified;
Above The Bible Belt
I grew up in northern states for a good part of my life. Living is a lot different there than it is below “the Bible belt” as they call it. My whole life marijuana was not a huge deal. Many people in my family smoked it, and if you didn’t know, it became legal for medicinal use long before the South would even consider it.
I had family members who were allowed by the state and by doctors to legally grow it and provide it to those it was deemed medically necessary. That person would provide it in different forms according to their needs. Whether it be to smoke, drink or even edibles, to eat, for those who could not smoke it due to breathing issues. Again, all of this was doctor and state approved. So, to me I saw no issue with it… after all it was ok by a doctor…and the law.
Doctors Aren’t’ God
Now that I am saved and living for the Lord, I know that no matter what the law or a doctor says it is wrong. It alters the state of your mind and is not ok. We look at people who drink alcohol and point fingers, but I don’t see a difference in taking anxiety medication to “take the edge off”. The Lord has dealt with me strongly in these areas and to be totally honest I see it as more than just a personal conviction. Why? Because He revealed to me that caffeine is no different than the other things I just mentioned.
Your Own Speed
I know everyone will not share my views on that. That’s ok. I believe when it’s time the Lord will convict you in that area and help you with it. We are all on the same path going in the same direction (if we are saved), just at different speeds.
Who Do You Favor?
I will say however that as the scripture above states there is no partiality with God. He has no favorites. What is wrong for one is wrong for all. We should view it the same where our family members are concerned.
1 Peter 5:8, Acts 5:29, John 13:34-35
**Lord thank You for opening my eyes to the truth of things I looked at wrong. Help me to never be blinded from Your truth by my love for those close to me. I don’t want to miss Heaven because I favored my family and friends over Your truth. In Jesus name I pray, Amen. **
