Why?
Colossians 3:23-24
23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, 24 since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.
Why?
Why do we do what we do? Why do you serve in the church? Why do you go out into the community and minister? Why do we take care of our homes and do well at our jobs? I could make a whole list asking why we do all of the things we do and I’m sure each one would have its own answer.
The truth is when we do anything, whether it be cleaning our kitchen or ministering to someone or writing a book, all of it should be because we are serving God and we love Him. If He is not at the center of everything we do, we will come to a point where we feel like we need recognition.
Frustration
Serving people will have you frustrated because the outcome will never go the way you think it should. Having the heart and mindset that you are serving God, However, will keep everything you do in its proper perspective.
Oftentimes we look for results with man when God is the one in charge of that. I teach a small class of preteens, and I sometimes find myself a little frustrated because they don’t seem to respond to what I say. When I let God have His way and focus more on Him and His word rather than how effective I can be they listen more intently. They ask questions and interact.
Everything To Do With Him
We are but a tool, a pen, used by God to write whatever He gives us. The outcome of whatever we do from laundry to preaching sermons has nothing to do with us and everything to do with Him.

**Lord thank You for every opportunity You give me to serve You. Please help me to remember with every single thing I do in this life it’s all to glorify You and not myself. If there are any areas, I need to focus more on You, please show me so I can make the effort to shift my focus toward You. In Jesus name I pray, Amen. **
