Are We Tempting God?
Matthew 4:6-7
King James Version
6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. 7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
Do We Tempt God?
Reading this scripture I couldn’t help but think how often do we tempt God with our own choices?
The foods, medicines, supplements and all the other things we choose to put into our bodies, are we tempting God when we do that? Things full of chemicals that we know nothing about, or maybe we do…
What about the other choices we make? The activities we involve ourselves with, that are purposefully dangerous. Sky diving, amusement park rides, bungee jumping could those things be considered tempting God?
What’s The Answer?
I’ll be honest I don’t really know the answer. I feel in myself that they would be. If we do dangerous activities that incite fear for excitement and fear doesn’t come from the Lord then wouldn’t it make sense that thing is something we shouldn’t be doing? Is the answer the same for everyone? Should we be testing God’s protection over us?
Are we tempting God with the choices we make? Let Him give you the answer that best suits you. After all, we just want to please Him with our choices. Inviting God into every decision we make and then following His lead is how we do that.
2 Timothy 1:7, Deuteronomy 6:16, Matthew chapter 4
**Lord thank You for Your word that allows me to look deeper into my own life and the choices I make. I want to seek You in all I do and follow Your leading God. I ask for Your Spirit to convict me when I start to think of doing anything that would go against You or tempt You Lord. In Jesus name I pray, Amen. **
