Friends
Proverbs 13:20 New King James Version
20 He who walks with wise men will be wise, But the companion of fools will be destroyed.
The Right Friends
Having the right kind of friends is important. In order to find the right kinds of friends you have to know what kind of person you want to be. What kind of future do you want to have?
If the Lord is important to you then choosing friends who do their best to honor Him and live according to His word should be at the top of your list.
It’s Not Judgmental
Wanting to surround yourself with people who have the same goals as you does not mean you are judging those who don’t. God’s word tells us how important it is to surround ourselves with Godly people.
Proverbs 13:20 –20 He who walks with wise men will be wise, But the companion of fools will be destroyed
Proverbs 22:24-25 -24 Make no friendship with an angry man, And with a furious man do not go, 25 Lest you learn his ways And set a snare for your soul.
Think About It
Attitudes, habits, hobbies and behaviors are all things to consider when choosing the people you spend your time with. While we can’t choose every single person, we spend time with, such as at work, school or church, we can choose who we have close, personal relationships with.
Be An Influencer
Sometimes we are around people at work, school or church who might be people we don’t care to be around. It’s in those times we have to be careful to be who we really are and want to be. We cannot allow those who aren’t living the way we choose to live to negatively influence us.
Like Jesus eating with the sinners and tax collectors. He was surrounded by many different kinds of people , but He did not allow them to change who He was. He remained the same and by doing that those around Him changed. Be like Jesus.
Matthew 9:10-13, Proverbs 17:17, John 15:13, Proverbs 27:17, Proverbs 18:24, Proverbs 13:20, Ecclesiastes 4:9-10, Proverbs 22:24-25, Proverbs 27:6, Proverbs 16:28
**Lord thank You for reminding me how important who I surround myself with is. Help me to be a positive influence to others and allow Your light to shine through me. I don’t want to allow the negative behavior of others to influence me. In Jesus name I pray, Amen. **
