God’s Will for Your Life

God’s Will For Your Life

Matthew 6:10 New King James Version

10 Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.

What Is It?

We wonder quite a bit what God’s will is for our lives. We pray and ask Him for His will to be done in our lives. But is that what we truly want when we pray?

Finding out what God’s will for us is fairly easy, we only make it difficult. His will for us is to live according to what His word says, plain and simple. It’s when we want minute by minute details that we find ourselves becoming frustrated and confused.

He’s Real

God is not some Psychic to be consulted. Sure, He knows the end from the beginning of your entire life, unlike someone who pretends they can see the future. However, if He actually told us what was going to happen, we would either run in the other direction or try to force it to happen on our time and not His.

Do You Understand?

To want His will is much deeper. When you are praying for His will in your life you should understand what you are saying. Sometimes, most times actually, His will does not line up with what we want. See, we have a picture in our mind of what we want, how we want to get there and what we believe everyone else, including God, should do to get us where we believe we should be.

God does not operate that way. It is His will that no one should die lost. His will, His path has lots of bumps that are essentially lessons, opportunities to grow and bear good fruit. It is also a path that brings glory to Him and not us.

Do You Really Want It?

Do you mean it? Do you truly want God’s will in your life? Are you willing to sacrifice to Him all of the ideas you have about your life, all of your plans? Are you ready to let go of your wants in order to live a life solely dedicated to Him no matter how difficult it might be? His ways are better than ours and the life He has is better than we could ever dream. Are you willing?

His Will in Scripture

1 Thessalonians 4:3 New King James Version

3 For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality;

1 Thessalonians 5:18 New King James Version

18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

1 Peter 2:15 New King James Version

15 For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men—

Micah 6:8 New King James Version

8 He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you

But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God?

John 14:15-31 New King James Version

15 “If you love Me, keep My commandments. 16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. 18 I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.

19 “A little while longer and the world will see Me no more, but you will see Me. Because I live, you will live also. 20 At that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you. 21 He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.”

22 Judas (not Iscariot) said to Him, “Lord, how is it that You will manifest Yourself to us, and not to the world?”

23 Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. 24 He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father’s who sent Me.

**Lord thank You for reminding me what it truly means to want Your will for my life. Help me to understand that You see and know things I can not comprehend but You will always work all things out for my good. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.**
