Don’t Stop Praying
Praying Always
There are many scriptures that talk about prayer in the Bible. We are encouraged to pray when someone is sick (James 5:14-15). The Word tells us to pray when we are anxious or afraid (Philippians 4:6-7). Prayer is the go-to for pretty much everything we have going on. I believe we underestimate the power that is in prayer and the things we are able to pray about.
Middle School
Several years ago, when my oldest entered middle school, it was difficult to say the least. I found myself worried about the friends he was making and the kinds of girls he was interested in. I worried about his relationship with God and his attitude. Sure, all of these things are normal middle school things to worry about, but as a mom you know how shaping these few years can actually be.
While in a Bible study one night I heard a woman talk about praying for all of the things I was currently worried about. She said that it was never too early to start praying over those things in your children’s lives. You can pray things over them before they are even conceived. I’m sure others have done that, but it never really occurred to me to pray for things like that until we were faced with them.
Pray About Everything
From that moment I began to pray for everything about my children. A few years later my youngest started middle school. This one being a girl I was already on my knees in elementary school because let’s just say it, girls are brutal! But one day while I was praying and begging God because I needed direction on where to pray about all of this and how to do it right, then He reminded me.
The time I was praying for my oldest flooded back to me and God opened my eyes and showed me how He had and is still answering those prayers, it just takes a little while for them to get worked out. Don’t stop praying.
What Are You Worried About?
What are you worried about today? Your children or other family members? Are you worried about work or finances? Whatever has been weighing on your mind, take it to God in prayer. Don’t be afraid to get specific and spend as long as it takes talking to Him. He loves you and cares about all the things you care about (1 Peter 5:7)!
There are times the answers to our prayers are immediate. Other times our answers may come in ways we never expected. No matter how long it takes or what it looks like God always answers. Don’t stop praying.
