Walk In the Spirit
Galatians 5:16-17 New King James Version
16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish.
You Will Know Them
We always hear the scripture quoted “you will know a tree by the fruit it bears”, and we all want to bear good fruit. How do we do that?
God’s word gives us a straightforward and easy answer. Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
How?
I guess the next question would be how do you do that? That answer is also quite simple. Live according to God’s word and don’t do the things you know you shouldn’t. Every adult, and most children, know right from wrong. We feel conviction when we say or do something that wasn’t right even if it was something small.
The problem comes when we make the choice to repeatedly ignore the conviction we feel and move forward in what we want to do anyways. Living for God and following His way is not hard. We make it hard because we try to look for loop holes and reasons to justify the behavior we feel is right, when the truth is we know better.
Who Do You Want to Be?
Do you want to be a Godly person. Do you want people to know by, not your words but, your actions that you live for God and He is real? Do you want to bear good fruit and not just pretend you do when those around you can see the truth? Put aside your selfish wants, your pride and your desire to look good instead of please God.
Galatians 5:16-26 New King James Version
Walking in the Spirit
16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. 24 And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.
** Lord, thank You for loving me so much that You want me to be better each day. Thank You for sending Your only Son to die for my sins that I might be saved to live with You forever. I pray that the spirit of conviction never leave me so I can always know the right way. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.**
