What Do You Want?
James 4:3
3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures.
What Do You Want?
That is the question that came to my mind this morning. I want a lot of things as I am sure most people do.
We want to have our finances in perfect condition. We want our children to have perfect lives. We want us and those we love to be happy and healthy.
But what about all the other things we want?
You know the personal selfish wants we all have. The new car, or the up to date fancy house and perfectly manicured lawn with the top notch landscaping. The big ministry that goes far beyond what we could ever dream of.
Who Does It Help?
While we may be content where we are, each of us has dreams that we hope to attain one day. The question is why do we want them and who will benefit from them?
I think our favorite part of this scripture is when it says we do not have because we do not ask. That is very true, but the next verse is the truly important part I think, which basically says what you are asking for, whatever it is, is for selfish reasons.
Be Honest
The intention of your heart for whatever it is will only really benefit you and you haven’t considered anyone else. Sure, what you want and are asking God for might possibly spill over onto someone else but is that the main reason you want it or are you just sliding that fact in there hoping to manipulate God into giving you what you want?
It’s definitely something to think about.
It’s not wrong to want things for yourself. Let God weigh the importance of it and be willing to accept whatever His answer is.

**Lord thank You for putting Godly desires into my heart. You see all the things I want for Lord, and I ask that if there is anything I am wanting that is not what You would have for me please take that desire from me and replace it with what You want me to have. In Jesus name I pray, Amen. **
