What’s Inside?

What’s Inside?

Proverbs 4:23

23 Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.

Luke 6:45

45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.

What’s Inside

It’s clear by reading both of these scriptures that whatever is inside of us, in our hearts is what will come out. Whether it be in our words or our actions what’s inside will eventually come out.

What we choose to surround ourselves with matters. The shows and movies we watch, the music we listen to, even the company we keep and the conversations we sit in on. All of those things affect what goes into our heart. If we hear or see something it goes into our heart and we then have to choose to filter it out  with good things or keep it in there.

What Do You Allow?

It’s better if we choose not to allow evil things to come into our heart to begin with. When we hear the word “evil” our minds go to the most terrible things we can think of, but evil is really anything not of God, anything that does not line up with His word is evil. An evil person isn’t just someone who murders and does awful things. No, an evil person is someone who refuses to do things God’s way.

What do you allow into your heart? Do the things you watch on TV depict evil situations? Are they full of sin and profanity? What about the music you listen to? Is it full of drinking, cursing and sexual references? And the conversations you allow yourself to be a part of…. If God were part of that conversation, remember He is still there even if you think He isn’t, how would He feel about what is being said?

Guard your heart. You have control over what is allowed to come into it. Whatever you put in is what will eventually come out. Let what comes out be good, righteous and holy.

Matthew 12:34, Proverbs 10:11, Proverbs 21:2

Proverbs 21:2 -2 Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, But the Lord weighs the hearts.

**Lord, Thank You for your word that gives me wisdom and direction on how to live a joyful, happy and prosperous life. I ask that You convict me whenever I have placed myself in a situation to allow evil into my heart. In Jesus name I pray, Amen. **
