Grace

Grace

Ephesians 2:8-9

8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.

Youth

This morning, I was thinking about the young people in our church. They are nearing adulthood, and some have already turned 18. I watch as they faithfully come to church either on their own or made to by their parents. Either way they are hearing the word of God.

What I focused on the most was how often they go to the altar. I wonder if they truly understand what they are doing. Knowing that some of them are making choices, at the moment that are far from Godly. As I began to pray the Lord showed me something. Now maybe you already knew this, and He was just talking to me but either way I am going to share it.

We All Make Mistakes

God showed me that while they were doing some things wrong and making mistakes, He was giving them the same grace He gives us as adults. The difference between them and me was they were learning early on in their lives how to serve God. They were learning what was right and wrong and how to come to Him when they have made mistakes.

See we all go through that. If we were honest, we would admit that was actually a continual process. There are just different things we learn as we go farther in our walk. Just as we don’t expect someone off the street to know everything, we have learned thus far in our walk with God, we can’t expect our children to know everything we do just because we have always brought them to church. Their level of maturity and comprehension is quite different from ours and everyone’s learning process is different.

He’s Not Done

God deals with each of us a little at a time. If He showed us everything, we needed to fix within ourselves at once we would probably give up and run back to the things of this world. He knows the perfect time to deal with specific things and situations in our lives. We need to trust that when we are looking at others. He’s not done with them yet anymore than He is done with you.

James 4:6, Titus 2:11, Psalm 145:8

**Lord thank You for teaching me humility and reminding me that we are all still a work in progress. God, I trust You. I thank You for a generation of young people who are hungry for You and Your Word. In Jesus name I pray, Amen. **
