A Godly Wife Pt.1
Proverbs 31:10
10 Who can find a virtuous wife? For her worth is far above rubies.
Help
While getting ready for work this morning I began thinking about how far my husband and I have come. From the time we got married, going through his addiction, the healing process until now.
There are so many things I’d like to share with other women in hopes it will help them see their role as a wife the way God intends it to be. Freedom is found when you walk the path God has set for you. Chaos, confusion and pain are found on the path that veers away from His.
A Work in Progress
It took many years for God to open my eyes on all the things I needed to change. He didn’t start by telling me all the things I was doing wrong but showed me how I could do things right, if I wanted to.
I am still a work in progress, as we all are, but the difference between now and when I first started was, I know what He expects of me, I just have to do it. I hope and pray the things I share in these few devotionals and videos will be a good starting point for you in helping to create a stronger marriage and a better you.
The Virtuous Wife
Of course, the best place to start would be with the Proverbs 31 woman, the Virtuous wife. We as women set the tone for our entire home. If it sounds like a great responsibility that’s because it is.
Think about it if you are angry and frustrated it’s not long before the whole house is upset. Now, it’s natural we get overwhelmed sometimes, but that is where we have to make some choices. We know that God is not the author of confusion. We also know that if we find ourselves frustrated it’s probably because we did not invite God into the situation and we are trying to do it ourselves. Once we understand what kind of power and influence, we have as a Godly wife and mother and use the wisdom He offers us, our entire lives, and those of our family, will change for the better.
Don’t Be Influenced
I believe that we have allowed ourselves to become influenced by the rest of the world. We see women who don’t cook or clean. Women who are sharp tongued and disrespectful, unwilling to submit to their husbands. They are not willing to do what they should for their home and expect their husbands to do it. Now I understand that some things work for one house and not for another, but I believe whole heartedly that scripture guides us to being caretakers of the home, of our husbands, and of our children.
I also understand that in today’s economy staying home to do those things isn’t an option for everyone, like me. So, I can say from personal experience that God sees what you have to do for your family, and He gives you the time, the grace, and the energy to do all you have to do and do it well. The thing is we have to choose how we use our time wisely.
Ministry Starts at Home
We always hear ministry starts at home and it does. Your ministry is your husband, your children and keeping your home before you even step out of the house.
In order for us to properly fulfill the ministry of home and family that God has given us, just as with any other ministry we must seek Him first. Every single day. Taking time each morning before the house, and everyone in it, is awake is the time we as women should discipline ourselves to pray and study. We all have such busy days. We have a long to-do list that starts as soon as we get up, but if we offer our tithe of time, our first fruit of the day to God. Dedicating it to Him will set the rest of the day in order along with our attitude.
–Read and study Proverbs 31:10-31 and take some notes, write down some thoughts. —

**Lord thank You for reminding me how important I am in my home. I ask that You give me a determination to be the Godly wife and mother You have created me to be. Show me the things I need to change Lord and help me to do it. In Jesus name I pray, Amen. **
