Be Encouraged

Be Encouraged

1 Samuel 30:3-6 New King James Version

3 So David and his men came to the city, and there it was, burned with fire; and their wives, their sons, and their daughters had been taken captive. 4 Then David and the people who were with him lifted up their voices and wept, until they had no more power to weep. 5 And David’s two wives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the widow of Nabal the Carmelite, had been taken captive. 6 Now David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and his daughters. But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God.

Life Is Hard

Life is hard sometimes. We go through difficult circumstances, and our emotions may get the best of us. It’s in those times that we have to make a choice. We have to choose to strengthen ourselves in the Lord. Choose to praise Him despite what is happening. Remember His promises to us through His word.

What’s Important

Having people around you who can pray is important, but what’s even more important is having an established prayer life and strong relationship with God so that when something serious comes about you don’t have to look around for someone else to help you.

When it’s 3 am and  the enemy is attacking your mind with dark thoughts and trying to overtake you with panic attacks you will need to be able to call on the Lord  yourself. There won’t be time to call the praying ladies in the church. If something happens to one of your children and you need to talk to God immediately you don’t have time to wait and see who answers the phone.

Stand Firm

And when you are having a tough week. One of those weeks where the enemy has been attacking your mind every minute of the day. Telling you things like you aren’t  good enough, no one likes you, everyone is talking about you, no one cares. He will even go so far as to send people here and there to make smart comments or do little things that trigger your mind so he can throw more bad thoughts in there.

During  those days, you will need to be like David and encourage yourself in the Lord. You will have to step up, stand firm, square your shoulders and remind yourself, and the enemy, what God’s word says about you. Remind Him that if God Himself has called you to this place then He will provide. He will sustain you!

Don’t Be a Doormat

Don’t allow yourself to become a door mat for the enemy no matter what your circumstances are! Encourage yourself in the Lord and make a choice to think on good things. When you take that step the Lord will meet you there.

Philippians 4:13, Psalm 37:4-5, Philippians 4:8

**Lord thank You for reminding me that You have given me power and authority over the enemy. Thank You for also reminding me that if You have called me to something it doesn’t matter what anyone else says or does You are in control. In Jesus name I pray, Amen. **
