Be Still & Know

Be Still & Know

Psalm 46:1

God is our refuge and strength and very present help in trouble

Don’t lose sight

We all have a lot of stuff going on. Sometimes there’s so much happening that just one more thing can make you feel like you’re going to break, and you lose sight.

You stop fixing your eyes on Jesus and you allow the enemy to set your focus on whatever that thing is.

When that happens it’s really hard to see a way out. It’s hard to see that this thing is not as big as your mind is making it seem, and if you’re not careful you will let that thing consume you.

So Many Questions

We fill our minds with questions. What’s next and what do we need to do to fix this? How can we do this and what do I need? A million little questions because we think we need to handle it ourselves when the whole time God’s word is telling us to be still and know that he is God.

Psalms 46:10 says be still and know that I am God. That’s all we have to do. If we keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, He is what will be the biggest in our mind.

Whatever we focus on is what gets bigger.

What are you focusing on today? Are you focusing on the problem at hand? Are you focusing on what you don’t have? The money you don’t have, the time you don’t have, the things you don’t know. All of that is something you really can’t do much about.

Pray

I have found that when I’m in a situation like that, the best thing for me to do, if I don’t see anything that I can immediately do, is to pray and ask God to help me. “Lord if there’s something I need to do please show me, and if there’s not I pray and ask that you give me peace about the situation.’’

Do I always remember to do that right away, no. I wish I did, but with time and practice it will become a second nature to automatically go straight to God which is what we are supposed to do. Going to Him is the only thing  that will give us peace.

So do you have a big thing today that you’re focusing on? Do what his word says, be still and know that He is God. look back on all the other times you had big problems and He showed up and took care of everything when you didn’t know how any of it could possibly get done.

Read Psalm 46

**Lord, thank you for reminding me that you’re where my help comes from thank you for reminding me that whatever I focus on and give the most attention to is what will grow I pray and ask that you show me anything I need to do and if there isn’t anything I need to do I ask that you give me peace in my situation right now in Jesus name I pray amen.**
