Do You Know the Difference?
Matthew 7:20 New King James Version
20 Therefore by their fruits you will know them.
Lot’s Of Preachers
There are a lot of people out in the world preaching these days. People on TikTok, Facebook, YouTube. Preachers all over TV and the radio. Anywhere you choose to tune in there are several people out there saying lots of different things.
While it may seem like a good convenience to have there is a problem. You don’t know their fruit. In Matthew chapter 7 verses 15-20 you will see there is talk about false prophets. They look the part and act the part of a Christian, but they don’t have the fruit.
What Is Fruit?
I know some may wonder what kind of fruit are you talking about? Well in Galatians 5:19-23 the fruit of the Spirit and the Works of the flesh are listed. Those are how you know if that person is real and not a fake. If someone looks the part but doesn’t act the part when no one is looking that is where the difference lies.
Real Or Fake?
It’s easy to pretend to be kind, patient, faithful and loving when things are going how we want them to. When everyone goes along with what we say and what we want we can be sweet, but when there is resistance to the control is when you see the truth. The hard times will reveal someone’s true character and show good or bad fruit.
Read It for Yourself
It’s important to, not only read, but study God’s word for yourself. If you don’t know what His word says then anyone can tell you anything and if it sounds good enough you just might believe it.
Dig into the fruit of the Spirit today and let it be part of your study. Look up biblical definitions and take some time for self reflection in this area. Do the same with the works of the flesh. It’s vital for us to be aware of what both of them are so we can guard our hearts and minds from false teachings. Even more importantly if we know what the fruit and the works are we can make sure we are in the right place as well. If our own hearts and spirits are not right then we will not be able to properly identify a false teacher when we hear one.
Matthew 7:15-20, Galatians 5:19-26, 2 Timothy 3:16-17
**Lord thank You for Your word that teaches me everything I need to know to make it through this life. Help me to recognize the things within myself that need to be corrected so I don’t lead myself or anyone else in the wrong direction. Thank You Lord. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.**
