Everybody Talks

Everybody Talks

Ephesians 4:29 New King James Version

29 Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.

What Are We Saying?

Is what we are saying imparting grace to the hearers? Is what we are saying edifying that person or the person whom we are speaking of?

I’ve heard before you speak about someone or a situation you have to ask yourself a few questions. Is it kind? Is it true? Is it uplifting? If you cannot say yes to all three of those questions, then whatever it is probably shouldn’t be said at all and be taken to God in prayer.

He Hates Gossip

The Lord has frequently brought to my mind lately how much He hates gossip. We tend to forget about it as a sin. Unless of course someone is gossiping about us am I right? Sin to us usually looks like drugs and drinking, cursing and having sex outside of marriage.  In Proverbs 6:16-19 it specifically says that God hates gossip. More specifically it says He hates lies and sowing discord among the brethren. Which is better known as gossip.

If God hates it so much why don’t we think twice about doing it?

What Does His Word Say?

I have listed several scriptures below that pertain to gossip. It’s important to know what God’s word says about this awful sin that He absolutely hates. We can make excuses and say things like “it’s not gossip if it’s true”, but the truth of the matter is it’s all gossip and if we want to do our best to be Christlike, we should seek His word on how to live.

One Day…

One day we will all have to stand before God and give an account of every idle word we have spoken. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to stand before God, as His word specifically says, naked and trembling and have to answer for why I couldn’t keep my mouth shut about other people and their business.

Proverbs 6:16-19, James 1:26, James 4:11, Leviticus 19:16, Proverbs 10:18, Proverbs 11:9, Proverbs 11:13, Proverbs 16:28, Proverbs 17:9,

There are many, many other scriptures and I encourage you to find and study them. The fact that there are so many pertaining to how we speak and how gossip is viewed in God’s eyes shows how important it is to our Christian walk and our witness.

**Lord thank You for loving me enough to show me how much you hate the sin of gossip. I ask that You convict me anytime I entertain or participate in this sin in any way. Please forgive me for the times I have done both. In Jesus name I pray, Amen. **
