Fear
Exodus 1:8-10 New King James Version
8 Now there arose a new king over Egypt, who did not know Joseph. 9 And he said to his people, “Look, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we; 10 come, let us deal shrewdly with them, lest they multiply, and it happen, in the event of war, that they also join our enemies and fight against us, and so go up out of the land.”
Fear
As I read this scripture one word came to mind. Fear. Fear is what started the whole thing. We focus on the Israelites being in slavery in Egypt and how badly they were treated. The main focus is on their journey to the promised land and everything that happened during that time, but fear is what started it all.
It will make you wonder what kind of messes we are getting ourselves into just because of fear. In 2 Timothy 1:7 it says that God has not given us the spirit of fear. If it doesn’t come from God, then it comes from the enemy and if we look at what happened as a result of the King of Egypt’s fear it’s obvious that is completely true.
Power & Control
The king was afraid to lose power and control because there were more of them than him. What are you afraid of today? Are you afraid to lose control over a situation? Are you afraid things won’t turn out like you feel they are supposed to?
We label fear as anxiety now but either way you look at it God’s word says to give all of your cares and worries over to Him. Once you hand them over, walk away and don’t take them back. I know that is the hardest part, but you don’t want to cause the mess the king did because he was afraid, do you?

**Lord thank You for caring about everything I do. Help me to remember when I start to fear that it does not come from You and give me the Discernment, strength, and wisdom to shut it down the moment it starts so I don’t allow it to cause a dramatic mess in my life or the lives of those around me. In Jesus name I pray, Amen. **
