How Do You Use Your Freedom?

How Do You Use Your Freedom?

Galatians 5:13-14 New King James Version

13 For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. 14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

Liberty

In the Bible liberty means freedom. Spiritual freedom from sin. This scripture tells us not to use that freedom as an opportunity for the flesh but to serve one another through love.

Something we see quite often today is people misusing scripture and biblical principals to beat down one another. We forget that while yes, we are supposed to correct and rebuke one another, it is supposed to be done in love.

That doesn’t mean we say “I love you, but…” and then proceed to tear someone down while using God’s word to do it. It means that we come to someone with love in our hearts after going to the Lord in prayer seeking the right way to do it.

Fruit Of The Spirit

The Fruit of the Spirit has been on my heart a great deal lately. We deal with people every single day. Lost people, saved people, angry people and hurt people. While His Spirit is the only one who can truly call and change a person as a Christian, we have a responsibility to allow His love to flow through us to them and the Fruit of the Spirit is how that happens. The Characteristics of who God is are the Fruit of the Spirit. If we are exemplifying them then others will see Him through us and it can change their life.

Works Of The Flesh

It’s not easy to constantly be at war against the works of the flesh. We have to make a conscious choice every moment whether we are going to choose to represent God or the enemy. Whether we will love our neighbor as ourselves or will we choose to please our own personal wants and feelings over others.

Galatians chapter 5,  Galatians 6:1-6

**Lord, please forgive me for not being a better example of a Chrisitan. Help me to do better. Help me to choose my words and actions more wisely so that others can not only see You in me but feel Your love flow freely through me to them. Lord let me not forget what the works of the flesh and the fruit of the Spirit are so I can consciously guard against them with all I say and do. In Jesus name I pray, Amen. **
