What Do You Think?

What  Do You Think?

Proverbs 19:11

11 The discretion of a man makes him slow to anger,

And his glory is to overlook a transgression.

What Does It Mean?

What does it mean to study and meditate on the word of God? Well of course you read it and then you go over each word. What do they mean and how does it come together? Once you have put it together how and where can you apply it to your life? That is what His word is for.

So, after reading this scripture I took a closer look and wanted to share my study with you. We know that Proverbs is all about wisdom. What it is. How to get it, and how to keep it. But what about this particular scripture?

I looked up a few definitions to get a better perspective.

-Discretion- The quality of behaving or speaking in such a way as to avoid causing offense or revealing private information.

-Transgression- An act that goes against a law, rule or code of conduct; an offense.

What Now?

So how did this come together in my mind?

If I behave or speak in such a way as to avoid causing offense and I don’t reveal private information, it will make me slow to anger and if I choose to overlook an offense it will bring honor to my character and glorify God.

God’s word says that we are to be peacemakers and peacekeepers and I believe that this proverb of wisdom shows us just how to do that.

Matthew 5:9, Romans 12:18, James 3:18

**Lord thank You for Your word that is living and shows me something new every day! Help me to remember Your words when the time comes to apply them. In Jesus name I pray, Amen. **
