Where is your heart?
Proverbs 16:2
2 All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the Lord weigheth the spirits.
What’s Your Why?
Why do you do good things? Why do you help others? Why do we read our Bibles and go to church? Why do we try to live according to God’s word? Why we do the things we do is more important than the thing itself.
When we help others, it should be out of genuine concern for their needs and helping to meet them whatever those needs might be. Our Bible study and church time should be because we love God and want a close relationship with Him.
Not because we might miss something or because someone might say something about us if we are not there, or because we want to brag on what we know and have checked Bible reading off of our to-do list.
God Weighs Your Heart
We can do a lot of things that look good to those around us, even our own Pastor, but God sees why we do what we do and that is much more important.
Have you ever taken time to examine your own motives? I believe it’s important for all of us to do that from time to time. We get so caught up in a routine and just living life that we do the same things we have always done, but our hearts are not in it. Our time is consumed by things we believe others expect of us.
What ‘s My Why?
What does God expect of me? Am I doing it? If so, am I doing it because I love the Lord and want to please Him or am I only doing it because that is what a Christian is supposed to do? I pray we all ask ourselves these questions today.
1 Samuel 16:7, Matthew 6:1, Psalm 19:14
**Lord, thank You for making me take the time to examine why I do the things I do. If there is anything I am doing with wrong motives God I ask that You reveal them to me and help me to do those things with the right purpose in my heart. In Jesus name I pray, Amen. **
