Be Prepared
1 Peter 5:8
8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
He Don’t Care!
The devil doesn’t care who you are. He doesn’t care how long you have been in church or saved. He also doesn’t care if you are important or well thought of. His sole purpose in our lives is to steal, kill and destroy. Your peace, your joy, your family, your entire life is what he is after.
I know that sounds pretty dramatic but it’s the truth. Now the question is what do we do about it. Like anything else in life we try to prevent the bad thing instead of just letting it happen and then trying to do something about it. So, what are some things we can do to guard ourselves against the enemy in our lives?
How To..
The first thing we need to do is be vigilant about our relationship with God. Prayer and Bible study time is of the utmost importance. That is your communication with God and without communication there is no relationship and without that strong relationship with the Lord, we leave ourselves open to vicious attacks from the enemy. These things need to be a part of your daily routine. A set time when it is just you and God every single day.
When we are faced with difficult things in life it upsets our normal routine and we begin to grasp and search for those familiar things. Those things that we just do sometimes because we haven’t made them a priority are the first to fall off the wayside when things get stirred up. Don’t let the most important thing, the only place your help truly comes from be the thing that falls.
Next….
Second, we have to make sure we have closed all of the doors the enemy may have access to in our lives. The small foxes spoil the vine. Are you holding on to a little something from the world? It could be the shows you watch, or the music you listen to. Do you enjoy a little gossip every now and then? What about a small drink here and there just to relax you? Do you let little four-letter words slip here and there when you know better? Bitterness, unforgiveness hiding in your heart.
Close The Door
I could list a ton of other things, but you get the picture. Small things that seem insignificant to us and that others might not even be aware of can open a door and give the enemy a foothold into our lives. If that door is open, he has full access to your life and can move in to destroy you piece by piece.
Be Prepared
Be prepared. Protect yourself and those you love against the enemy by taking a look at the things listed above. Being vigilant in these areas will not guarantee that he will never come after you, but it will mean that you have prepared for the battle the devil is trying to bring and when you have done that you can stand firm and know that the Lord is with you and will fight for you.
John 10:10, Joshua 1:9, Exodus 14:14
**Lord thank You for giving me the tools I need to fight when the enemy comes against me and my family. Help me to be aware and not to become slack in my relationship with You or the preparation for the battles to come. I love You Lord and thank You for never leaving me. In Jesus name I pray, Amen. **

Katie, great devotion and reminder to be prepared in these last days. It’s easy to neglect our time in Bible study and prayer because we have so much pulling at our time and trying to distract us. We have to be diligent and intentional. Thank you for the reminder and may God bless you in your ministry.
You are absolutely right! Thank you so much for reading and commenting!
