What’s In Your Home?

What’s In Your Home?

James 4:7 New King James Version

7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

Evil

If you were to ask most people, they would say that they don’t want anything to do with evil in their home. They don’t want it around their children or their life. What we fail to realize is that more often than not the evil that comes into our homes is what we have allowed in.

Vampires

Before the Lord saved me, I would watch horror movies. I loved them back then. If you ever watched any vampire movies one of their “rules”, was they had to be invited into your home before they could come in. I don’t watch those movies now, because I know that vampires are claimed to be a sort of demon who has sold their soul to the devil for immortality. None of that is true of course, but watching such things welcomes demonic spirits into your home.

What’s Are You Letting In?

Which brings me to my overall point. A great many of the things we deal with are things we have allowed to come into our homes in one way or another.  The words we speak, the attitudes we carry, what we allow on our TV’s and radios, all of those things invite something into our home in one way or another.

It’s like keeping alcohol on top of the fridge or a pack of cigarettes on your dresser and expecting to raise kids that will never drink or smoke. We have to be vigilant about what we allow into our lives and into our homes. The devil is looking for any open door, any tiny little crack of sin to bust wide open and take over.

The enemy is out to steal, kill and destroy everything good. He wants to destroy any chance for any person to have a relationship with God and go to Heaven.

What’s In Your Home?

What are you allowing in your home today? Bad attitudes that will pass on to your children? Or are you praying against those attitudes and resisting the urge to be rude and ugly. Are you listening to depressing music or music that promotes violence, sex, or drug and alcohol use? Or are you choosing praise and worship music so God’s Spirit will fill the atmosphere? Is there a Bible on the table for the kids to look at or is it something else? You get the picture.

Life is all about choices and the truth is a lot of times it’s not the devil being after you that is causing your problems. It’s your unwillingness to stand firm against the evil of this world and choose the things of God.

1 Corinthians 10:13, John 10:10, 1 Peter 5:8

**Lord thank You for always providing a way out of temptations. I ask that You reveal to me all the ways I may be allowing the enemy into my home without even realizing it. Give me the wisdom and the strength to resist the enemy so he will have to flee. In Jesus name I pray, Amen. **
