Where Are You From?

Where Are You From?

Judges 11:1  New King James Version

11 Now Jephthah the Gileadite was a mighty man of valor, but he was the son of a harlot; and Gilead begot Jephthah.

The Son of a Harlot

When you read Judges chapter 11 there are so many powerful takeaways that you could spend a while studying just that one chapter, but the very first verse is what got me. “He was the son of a harlot,”  Whoever wrote this wanted us to know right off the bat just what kind of family Jephthah came from.

Jephthah became a military leader and judge over Israel. He made some rash choices but, in the end, even though the very first verse tells us where he came from, it held no bearing on how God chose to use him.

Where Are You From?

We don’t all come from prominent families. We don’t all have praying grandmas or fathers who have been God fearing pastors our whole lives. Some are the product of a long line of bad choices and shameful living.

In God’s eyes one is no greater than the other. Your past does not define who you are and how God can and will use you.  Your willingness and obedience is what He looks at, and to see if the blood of Jesus has been applied to your life.

He Can Use You!

Have you wondered if God can use you with the past you have or the family you come from? The answer is YES He can! Will you let Him?

*Lord, thank you for reminding me it doesn’t matter where I came from, it only matters where I am going. Use me Lord for Your purposes. I pray that others see You through me. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.**
