You Have Control

You Have Control

Proverbs 3:5-6

5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

Did You Know?

Did you know that you have control over your feelings? I know it may not seem like it. We may have times we can feel completely overwhelmed by them. But we have total control over how we choose to feel.

The things others say and do around or to us may ignite feelings within us. We get to choose how far it goes. I think about children today and the things they face. I wonder if we are teaching them that their feelings are their own personal choice.

Mean People

My daughter dealt with a child last year that was relentless in her bullying. We prayed about it a lot and it was a pretty big deal. I sat her down one day and told her about those people that say and do mean and hurtful things. No matter how good things look for them, there is obviously something wrong for them to treat another person that way. So, the best thing we could do was to pray for that other girl so she didn’t make anyone else feel the way she was making my child feel.

Shifting Focus

You want to know something? Shifting the focus from my daughter’s feelings to praying for that other child made all the difference and ended the problem. It took a little while but while waiting for it to end the hateful behavior no longer had control over my daughter.

You Have Control

Maybe you have an adult bully, maybe it’s just really bad circumstances. Whatever is going on in your life right now that is causing you to allow your feelings to take control is in your hands. Are you going to put your foot down and submit your feelings to God, even if you have to do it everyday until something changes? Or are you going to allow yourself to be taken under by lies from the enemy?

Prayer is powerful. It shifts your focus from your problem and how you feel about it to God. What will you choose today?

James 1:2, 1 Thessalonians 5:16-17, Proverbs 4:5

**Lord thank You for reminding me that You have given me power and authority over the enemy and that You will never leave me to fight anything alone. Remind me Lord, anytime I start to allow my feelings to overtake me that I can choose peace and joy over whatever else is going on. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.**
