Look Inside
Lamentations 3:40 New King James Version
40 Let us search out and examine our ways, And turn back to the Lord;
Rose Colored Glasses
There is one thing that has been heavy on my heart lately. Self-examination. It’s not something we do very much anymore. Our lives have become consumed with pointing out the faults and sins of those around us. We begin to see ourselves through rose colored glasses and after a while we don’t even bother to think there might be something wrong within us.
It Doesn’t Matter
It doesn’t matter if you wake up and pray every day. Or whether you read the Bible every morning. Going to church every time the doors are open doesn’t guarantee that there isn’t something lurking beneath the surface. We tend to think if we aren’t partying and killing people or telling blatant lies, we are all good. There is so much more to our spiritual lives than that.
Why?
Why are you going to church and what is the posture of your heart when you get there? Do you go to a weekly Bible study because you don’t really have anything else to do, you want to see who else is there or because you want to be seen as good? Or do you go because you are hungry to learn more about God and to grow in Him?
Why we do what we do is even more important than the deed itself. Let us examine our own ways regularly. Ask the Lord to search your heart and reveal to you anything inside that may not be pleasing to Him. Ask Him to direct you in what to do for changes to be made.
Stagnant Water
If we are not moving forward and growing in our relationship with God, we have become like stagnant water. That water attracts bugs, grows nasty things inside and starts to smell really bad. It will eventually dry up into nothing when things get hot. Step into the river of His flowing waters that never run dry.
Psalm 139:23-24, 1 Corinthians 11:28, 2 Corinthians 13:5
**Lord thank You for reminding me time and again that I should be more concerned with my spirit man than what everyone else is or isn’t doing. Show me Lord if there is anything within me that needs to be changed, worked on or taken completely out. I know You won’t leave me to take care of it on my own. In Jesus name I pray, Amen. **
