It’s Monday
2 Corinthians 10:3-5 New King James Version
3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,
We Are Human
For though we are human and have selfish wants, desires and thoughts we do not fight those things with the things of this world. We fight them with spiritual things. With the Word of God because we know those thoughts, and desires don’t line up with the righteous lifestyle the Lord has called us to live. We take every thought and selfish want and submit it to God and if it’s not pleasing to Him, we cast it to the side and walk away from it. That is if we are choosing to live in the way He has set before us. Anything brought before us that does not line up with God’s word must be pushed aside and never looked back on.
It’s Monday!
Today made itself known as a Monday a half an hour before my alarm clock even went off. Honestly, I was dreading going about this day and I was begging God to help me. In those thirty minutes I had decided I was going to quit my job, and that I was not good enough to do what God had called me to do so I might as well not even do that either. I wish I were kidding about all of those thoughts and feelings, but we have days like that don’t we.
Take Them Captive
We have days where we have about 2 minutes, if that, to take the thoughts the enemy throws at us captive! It will set our frame of mind for the entire day if we are not careful.
The devil doesn’t wait for you to get that first cup of coffee in. He surely isn’t going to wait until you are done with your morning prayers and Bible study time.
The truth is there will absolutely be days like this. No matter who you are, or what kind of relationship you have with God the enemy will come to try and steal your peace, kill your joy and destroy anyone and anything in his path.
Good News!
There is good and hopeful news though. If you take your time every single day and spend time praying with God and reading His word when you have mornings like I had today He will bring back to your mind His word, which is your sword, needed to fight this particular situation. If you have established a prayer and devotional time in the mornings before you start your day you will know exactly where to go and have the time carved out to do. Most importantly, if you have an open line of communication with the Lord and speak to Him regularly throughout every day it will be an automatic reaction to go straight to Him when the devil starts in with his mess.
Are You Ready?
Do you have those prayer and devotional times established in your life before your day starts? Are the lines of communication freely open between you and God? Have you been reading His word daily, so you are able to use it against the enemy when needed?
Think about those things today. Prepare yourself for whatever may come.
Ephesians 6:10-18New King James Version
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—
**Lord thank You for Your word that is my weapon against the enemy, my instruction when I don’t know what to do and Your comforting words to me when I am in distress. Thank You for never leaving me and always listening and being there to help when I need You. In Jesus name I pray, Amen. **
