Make Peace

Make Peace

Matthew 18:15-17

15 “Moreover if your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he hears you, you have gained your brother. 16 But if he will not hear, take with you one or two more, that ‘by the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.’ 17 And if he refuses to hear them, tell it to the church. But if he refuses even to hear the church, let him be to you like a heathen and a tax collector.

Matthew 5:23-24

23 Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, 24 leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.

Conflict

Jesus has pretty well outlined what we are to do when we begin to have conflict with another person.

To break it down if someone has sinned against you in some way it says to go to them privately. It doesn’t say go to them every single time they do something you don’t like, but if they have sinned against you go to them privately.

In this world of social media the first thing we do is hop on the internet and vent all of our feelings. Either out right, or passive aggressively by sharing some meme relating to our situation or feelings. All the while refusing to go before a person and talk about the real issue at hand.

We call on our friend group for validation before we call on Jesus for direction on how to properly handle the situation. That is unbiblical. Period!

Be Spirit Led

It’s not always easy to talk to someone when they have hurt or upset you but it is necessary for the restoration of the relationship. Even if you feel like you no longer want any type of friendship with that person it is still necessary to clear the air and maintain proper peace. God’s anointing will not flow where there is strife.

We can’t just spout off at the mouth whenever someone makes us mad. That will do nothing but stir up more strife no matter who was originally at fault. Maintaining the fruit of the spirit is crucial when addressing any ought against one another. (Love, peace, patience, gentleness, kindness those things)

Scripture instructs us that if we have something against another person we need to reconcile before even coming to an altar before God.

Where Are You?

So where are you today? Are there some things you need to get right with God and right with some other people in your life? Seek God in those areas and let Him lead you to the proper time and place and He will give you the right words.

Remember you’re not out to “win” or to “be right”. You’re out to seek peace and restoration.

Romans 12:18, Ephesians 4:26-32, Galatians 5:22-23

** Lord thank You for loving us so much that you only want good things in our lives. I ask that you reveal to me any places where I need to make peace and provide the opportunity, the words and the boldness to do so. In Jesus name I pray, Amen. **
