Matthew 18:7

7 Woe to the world because of offenses! For offenses must come, but woe to that man by whom the offense comes!

Stumbling Block

We are all responsible for our own actions. This is absolutely true. But this scripture looks at it from what I like to think of as a side view. While each person is responsible for their own actions, we should not become a stumbling block for them spiritually.

What do I mean by that? Well, are our actions causing someone to spiritually regress? Are we antagonizing someone to the point that they do something they shouldn’t?

If you start an argument with someone over something completely unnecessary and are doing nothing more than stirring up strife you are setting them up to fall.

No Excuses

Sure, it is their job to keep their composure and make sure their words and actions are not sinful. If they are, that will be between them and God, but it does not cancel out your wrongdoing according to this scripture.

Are you placing temptation, whatever that may be, before a person? Are you baiting them with gossip when you know it’s a weakness of theirs?

Most of the time before we do anything we will hear a still small voice say something like ”no,don’t do/say that”. That voice is the Holy Ghost warning you before you sin in some way.

Don’t Stir the Pot

Have you ever said something you know would “stir the pot”? Have you ever said or done something and deep down you know it would, in some way or another, set another person off?

We like to believe we don’t mean it, but in all honesty most of the time we know what we are doing even if we allow ourselves to walk right into it.

We will receive judgment from the Lord for doing so.

Romans 14:13, Galatians 5:13, 1 Corinthians 8:9

**Lord, please forgive me for the times I have caused another to stumble spiritually. I don’t want to be the reason anyone weakens their relationship with you. Help me not to do those things and to recognize when I am about to so I can stop. In Jesus name I pray, Amen. **

I feel like this is true because everyone is responsible for their own actions and everyone should be careful when speaking to someone else about things that might upset them we never know what someone else might be going through
